The Coppon chalets are nestled in the Combe de l'Esserts, above the village of Salvagny, in Sixt Fer à Cheval. The itinerary offers a nice walk in an area that is often well covered in snow. Very nice view of the Haut-Giffre peaks.

The itinerary starts at the level of the ski lift cash desk. After passing along the start of the ski slopes, the itinerary goes up towards a mazot and joins the "chemin des gardes" leading to the Grenairon refuge. Follow this path through a very beautiful and dark spruce forest, then leave it to enter a wide dell. Follow the edge of the forest and head towards the chalets of Coppons, which can be seen at the top of the dell. The itinerary makes a loop in front of the chalets, returns to the forest and then to the path taken on the way up.
