Let's get into a little more detail:
The chalet is ideally designed for large families or groups of friends, with a large living area on the ground floor (80 m2) and sleeping areas upstairs. It has recently been redecorated from floor to ceiling to create a warm, chic and modern atmosphere, as has the garden, which has been enriched with a variety of new trees and shrubs.
The bedrooms are all spacious, with volumes reaching right up to the ridge. They are finished in old wood with built-in beds and solid parquet flooring, and all have functional storage space. They are located on the first and second floors (2 on the first floor and 3 on the second floor) and give onto a large mezzanine. They all offer uninterrupted views of the mountains.
The bathrooms (3) are made of natural stone that echoes the old wood, and all have double washbasins.
The basement houses a laundry room and a "back from the ski" area.
The outdoor area provides parking for up to 4 cars

GROUND FLOOR:

Where is the chalet located?
The chalet is located in Morillon, in the heart of the Haut-Giffre valley, 20 minutes from Cluses (train station) and the A40 highway, and one hour from Geneva airport.
Les Gets is a 30-minute drive away, Morzine 40 minutes, Avoriaz 1800 or Chamonix 1 hour.

In the immediate vicinity of the chalet....
Once you've parked your car, you can do everything by foot: go skiing in a breathtaking ski area, do your grocery shopping, have a meal or a drink, or enjoy the many recreational and aquatic activities in the Haut-Giffre valley...
The butcher/caterer is a 3-minute walk away, the mini-market, tourist office and ESF are 6 minutes away, the village centre of Morillon (pharmacy, bakery, tobacconist, etc.) is 7 minutes away, and the Lac Bleu lake outdoor activities area is 10 minutes away.
For more substantial grocery shopping, it's a 5-minute drive to the Carrefour Market in Samoëns.
Both Morillon and Samoëns are villages in Haute-Savoie that have managed to retain their authenticity while opening up to family tourism in harmony with nature. The centre of Morillon is 700 metres away, the centre of Samoëns 4 km away. You can get there by car as welle as by foot or by bike, taking the footpath along the banks of the Giffre river. You can also choose to take one of the free shuttle buses that run regularly during the season all around the Giffre valley (from Mieussy to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, via Morillon and Samoëns).
Winter at the chalet...
In winter, as in summer, Le Grand Gaby chalet is the perfect location for being close to everything, while guaranteeing you maximum peace and quiet.
The departure of the Morillon gondola lift, which gives access to the Grand Massif ski area (Morillon, Samoëns, Flaine, Les Carroz, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval) is a 5-minute walk away (300 metres). You can leave the chalet with skis on your shoulder and boots on to discover and try out the 139 slopes in the area (265 km). If the sky is clear, don't miss the breathtaking view of the Mont Blanc chain from the summit of Flaine (les grandes platières)... breathtaking, powerful, yet so fragile! Snow conditions permitting, you can ski back down to Sixt Fer à Cheval along the waterfall trail (14 km). From here, a free shuttle bus will take you back to Morillon by the road.
On the way back to the chalet, you will appreciate the "back from ski" area, where you can store and dry all your equipment, including ski boots and gloves on the dedicated electric dryer.
If you have children or would like to take ski or snowboard lessons yourself, you will find an ESF school to book your lessons at the Morillon tourist office. The main ESF office, as well as group departures, is in Les Esserts (at the arrival point of the Morillon gondola). Les Esserts is also where you will find the jardin des neiges, where your little ones can get their first taste of skiing.
The area is also renowned for ski touring and adaptive skiing for disabled people. And when the Haut-Giffre valley is well covered in snow, cross-country skiers can enjoy the various trails that run along the river to Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.
You have also come to the right place if you prefer snowshoeing, dog-sledding or simply soaking up the sun and the view of the snow-capped mountains from a deckchair on the chalet's covered terrace.
Services for children:
A child's cot and high chair are available at the chalet. The Lac Bleu lake outdoor activity area is ideal for keeping children entertained in summer. In winter, if you would like to book your children in for ski lessons, you can contact the ESF annexe, located in the tourist office. The snow garden is located at Les Esserts, at the arrival point of the Morillon gondola, as are the departure points for group and individual ski lessons.
